About us.
Stay Focused was founded by Neane and Sarah, united by a shared belief that work should be both meaningful and enjoyable.
With over a third of our adult lives—more than 90,000 hours—spent at work, it’s worth investing in making that time as rewarding as life outside of it.
Throughout our extensive careers in the healthcare sector, we’ve experienced times when professional supervision could have made a real difference—helping us navigate challenges, feel valued, and prevent burnout. We truly understand the unique stressors of working in healthcare.
These experiences inspired us to create Stay Focused.
We believe that with the right professional supervisor and structured, ongoing support, individuals can gain greater clarity, confidence, and purpose—enabling them to thrive and remain fulfilled in their careers for the long term.

"I bring a reflective, person-centred approach to professional supervision, grounded in evidence-based practice and compassionate care."
He aha te mea nui o te ao? Māku e kii atu, he tāngata he tāngata, he tāngata. What is the most important thing in the world? I tell you, it is people, it is people, it is people.
With healthcare qualifications in Radiation Therapy, Clinical Teaching and Professional Supervision, I have a rich career dedicated to helping others connect, communicate effectively, learn and thrive. My work spans clinical practice, education and supervision, supporting health professionals to build confidence, capability and resilience in complex environments.
I bring a reflective, person-centred approach to professional supervision, grounded in evidence-based practice and compassionate care. I am also a published Mental Health First Aid contributor, with a strong interest in wellbeing, psychological safety and sustainable professional practice. I am passionate about creating spaces where individuals feel supported to grow, develop insight and achieve meaningful outcomes for themselves and those they care for.
Sarah Thomson
With over 25 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist I bring a wealth of clinical expertise, leadership, and compassion to my work. I have always had a real passion for helping others grow — supporting them to reach their potential. After completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Supervision in 2021, my supervision practice provides a positive space where people feel heard, supported, and valued. My approach helps supervisees gain clarity and confidence through self-reflection, providing a space where learning, creativity, and self-agency can truly flourish.
Drawing on a reflective and strength-based approach, I weave in evidence-based strategies from Positive Psychology, supported by my Diploma in Positive Psychology (2023). Alongside supervision, I can offer tailored positive coaching to help individuals and teams boost wellbeing, build resilience, and thrive at work and beyond.

“I create supportive, reflective spaces where people feel valued and empowered to gain clarity, confidence, and grow into their potential.”

'Radiation therapists' perceptions of participating in Professional Supervision – a pilot study'
This important research was published in a peer reviewed, open access journal and looked into Radiation therapists (RTs) using professional supervision (PS). The study showed that RTs responded positively to PS, suggesting its potential in managing workplace stressors, promoting career advancement and providing dedicated time for reflection, support and guidance. RTs endorsed the efficacy of PS in enhancing their practice and advocated for its widespread adoption among RTs.
An Evaluation of Mental Health First Aid Officer Utilisation Across an International, Interdisciplinary Oncology Group
This evaluation looked at the utilisation of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) across Icon's international, interdisciplinary oncology service in Australia and New Zealand. While most respondents in the study reported manageable MHFA workloads, it was identified that challenges exist in programme awareness, role clarity, and resource allocation. Addressing these concerns through improved guidelines, ongoing training, and increased visibility of MHFAOs could enhance the programme's effectiveness and long-term sustainability.
